The ability of any performing arts center to excel in its mission is rooted in an organic connection between its programmatic vision and its architecture. A great cultural facility requires a unique personality and a functional design that enables this vision.

Performing Arts Center Eastside (PACE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 2002 for the purpose of building a first-class performing arts center in Bellevue to serve the growing population of the Eastside. PACE continues today as the parent organization of Tateuchi Center, so-named on June 8, 2010 to honor a $25 million gift from the Atsuhiko and Ina Goodwin Tateuchi Foundation.

Project Specifications

Location

Tateuchi Center will be located in the center of the Bellevue business and shopping district at the corner of NE 10th Street and 106th Avenue NE, an easy drive from I-405, I-90, and SR-520, along a major bus route, four blocks from the downtown transit center, and two blocks from a planned light rail terminal. This central location offers thousands of people who live, work, and visit downtown Bellevue convenient access to the performing arts. A network of sky bridges, sidewalks, and underground tunnels will connect the center with 200 retail stores, 30 fine restaurants, and 1,000 first-class hotel rooms, all within walking distance, making the center a “one-stop shopping” model for arts and entertainment. This robust, pedestrian-friendly urban center, with new mixed-use high-rises, office buildings, condos, hotels, retail shops, and restaurants, promises an exciting atmosphere for an unforgettable theatre experience. The center also offers more choice to Seattle residents, particularly those working on the Eastside or living near the SR-520 and I-90 bridges.
