After Tateuchi Center Executive Director and CEO John Haynes introduced him to the plan to build a world-class performing arts center in downtown Bellevue, Tay joined the Board of Directors. “The more I found out about it, the more interested I became,” he notes. “I live in Bellevue, and wanted to be actively involved in an initiative that affects the entire region.”

The Bellevue Downtown Association (BDA) announced the winners of the 2010 Place Making Awards at the organization’s 37th Annual Celebration. Tateuchi Center was presented with the Cultural Catalyst Award in recognition of the drive, passion, and energy of those involved in bringing the new performance center to Bellevue, as well as in recognition of the recent $25 million naming gift.

Once upon a time (or maybe just three short years ago), I participated in a program called the Emerging Leadership Institute. The Emerging Leadership Institute, or ELI for short, is a two-day, acceptance-based seminar, which is sponsored by the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP). It’s a fantastic program that focuses on teaching critical leadership skills to some of the brightest new colleagues in the performing arts presenting and touring field. [
